The Hard-Court Mirror - How Basketball Kits Impact Us

An all time favourite sport basketball has always been a dream of many youngsters especially in the U.S. to play in the big leagues. Big name players such as Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and now LeBron James dominate the wall paper scene of anyone’s room.
Apart from the skills they contribute to the game of basketball the overall impact of the player depends also on the uniform they wear. Take for instance Michael Jordan who has been correspondingly brought up by the number 23 in a Chicago Bulls uniform. Take away the uniform and you have a half Air Jordan without the frills.

We can all see the way the present times have revolutionized the wearing of basketball kits or basketball uniforms. Rappers would incorporate them in their overall appearance and would give them that hip-hop signature look.
Going back to basketball, uniforms are design to ignite interest in a team by the way how they project themselves on the hard-court. The uniforms usually bring about the history and the glamour of a basketball team; one good example is the L.A. Lakers which has been in a yellow uniform since the start. Hollywood would always be the L.A. Lakers and yellow would be their official colour.
As for minor leagues basketball kits can contribute a great deal even for a losing team. At the end of any league there will be various awards up for grabs and usually it includes a team in a best in uniform category. So even if a team is a disaster in the standings they can still be winners with this category.

Basketball uniforms over the years have provided us with spectacle and creativity. Colours have been designed and mixed with variants to let out a look of uniqueness. For a hard-court hero in the NBA a complete image constitutes a complete marketing strategy off and on the court. Which makes basketball apparels a number one commodity for the consumers.

Before when Michael Jordan was continuously eliminating the Cleveland Cavaliers off the playoffs you haven’t seen much of the Cavaliers uniform in the market. But when Lebron James arrived in the NBA the Cavaliers uniform suddenly became a hot ticket. Now we can see why basketball uniforms contribute a great deal to the whole atmosphere of a player and a specific league. The moment a player steps in the court people would always see how creative or how decorative the basketball uniform is even before he struts his talent.

The great basketball appearance

Truth of the matter is basketball is never without a great basketball uniform, and the way the basketball uniform is built will spell a look of admiration or a look of dismay for the spectators. There are many kinds of basketball uniforms out there in the market; the ones that are popular are the ones that represent the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the States. From kids to adults alike they don the NBA superstar basketball jersey as if there is some kind of power that emanates from it. Some say wearing a Larry Bird basketball jersey is equalling the Birdman's deadly shooting touch. Others say it adds a fashion statement to street wear.

Whatever it is basketball jerseys have become a pillar of fashion not just in basketball but everywhere where basketball is played. Taking a look at the different kinds of basketball jerseys that have invaded the market through the years you can tell that basketball not only revolutionized the way we play the game but also how we look while playing the game. Some teams have incorporated the retro uniforms in which they show up with uniforms of the past.

In the NBA since it has been with us for a very long time basketball uniforms have gradually changed their look and incorporating it in the present times brings us memories of basketball yesteryears. Being a great fan of the NBA or any league in particular means trying to get hold of the same basketball jerseys out in the market but since the real thing is expensive they go for replica basketball jerseys. These are composed of cheap materials available for budget constrained consumers.

But in case you have the cash to buy the genuine stuff then go for the authentic basketball uniform. These are the same ones which the players usually throw out to the audiences after the game (case in point: Dennis Rodman of the Chicago Bulls usually does this antic). The material would be of high standard and shrunken down to the average person's size. If you're a collector then the authentic pro cut player's basketball jersey is for you.

These basketball uniforms are exactly the ones which the player dons but exactly the same with regards to the size. So if you get the uniform of tallest NBA player (as of the moment) Yao Ming (standing at 7 feet 6 inches in height) you also get the exact size of his uniform.

Italy's Blue Football Shirts Team-What Can 2010 Bring

The excitement in football once again kicks off in South Africa as the biggest show on earth is ready to give the fans a fast paced action pack multitude of games. The last time the World Cup showed its wares was 2006 when Italy were crowned champions. While there will be familiar faces in the Italian lineup most of them have aged and will show signs of slowing down.

Despite half of the teams lineup undergoing a change the Italians will still wear their trademark blue football shirts and football shorts that would instill some fighting spirit to the gritty Italian team. Although pundits are putting off the Italian teams title run this year they will still bring out there fighting form and try to win as much games so they can qualify for the semifinals.

The Italian team being grouped with Slovakia, New Zealand and Paraguay has called the services of the same coach that steered them to victory in 2006. Marcello Lippi taking some time off from coaching football after the successful 2006 campaign comes back at the forefront of the Azurris and tries once more to bring home the bacon. Even though he would have to contend with an aging lineup the team will respond well with Lippi steering them a game at a time.

The players who would be coming back for another title run includes Gigi Buffon the consistent goal keeper of the squad who because of his huge contributions manning that important spot has kept the adversaries from scoring off the Italian team. Playing for the Juventus football club in Italy, Buffon is considered the number 1 goal keeper of the Italian league.

Another stalwart who is returning to the lineup of Team Italy is Fabio Cannavaro the defensive demon who made some key defensive moves in Italy's journey to the 2006 World Cup championship. Now more than ever he would be called upon to lend some leadership on some of the new blood that were added to the lineup. Teaming up with Cannavaro at the defensive end is another returning player in the person of Mauro Camoranesi the two will have to step up to bring out that gem of a defensive strategy in order to start a domino effect on the other players.

Even though the Italian team holds a pattern of winning the World Cup every 12 years this year's team would be hard pressed on winning again simply because age has become a liability in a team that is trying to return to glory once again. Let's see what fighting spirit the men in the blue football shirts and football shorts bring in 2010.

Basketball Jerseys-Some Of the Most Popular Ones

The NBA holds the most highly skilled players in the game of basketball and because it is known worldwide even basketball kits adds to the awesome revenues that the NBA gets. The popularity of the league extends not only on the hard-court but it is even integrated in the world of music specifically rap and hip hop music. Hip hop fashion shows a basketball uniform included with your usual baggy pants and bandanas.

Going back to the hard-court, fans had been patronising basketball jerseys by the millions and the player that is most recognisable translates to a basketball uniform that sells a great deal. Leading the list is Kobe Bryant the LA Lakers main man and the successor of Michael Jordan as a one man scoring machine. Even the switch of numbers from 8 to 24 hasn't stopped Kobe Bryant from delivering the goods on and off the court. Alongside Kobe Bryant is the whole LA Lakers system that has a rich basketball tradition in tow. So as a whole, Bryant's popularity is also carried by the team's philosophy. It is being in the right place at the right time.

The number 2 spot is occupied by Lebron James who is chasing Kobe Bryant both in basketball statistics and marketing revenues. Eventually James will catch up with Kobe as age will be a crucial factor in determining both their fates. James who entered the league when he was 18 is just 25 years old and has a long way to go in breaking records on the hard-court. On the 3rd spot is Dwight Howard after entering the semi-finals last year with his Orlando Magic he has been catapulted to the spotlight and has given the fans a peek on his enormous talent. Nicknamed Superman the Magic's centre is also shattering basketball statistics along with his best selling jerseys.

You could only imagine how much revenues are gained from basketball kits that are marketed for fans to patronize and the players are on the winning end in all of these. The NBA will be gaining ground in terms of these basketball jerseys reaching mile high in revenues and marketing which will project an upside image for the league as a whole. Players will play that role to the hilt as it would contribute not just to popularity but a trademark to the player's contributions on the NBA.

USA Football Kits Change In Time For World Cup 2010 Action-Will It Help Their Performance

The World Cup makes a historical appearance in South Africa this 2010 and with it comes some changes revolving on the squads that are participating in the most prestigious football event. Team USA who are better known to have a more competitive side in Basketball and Baseball will start in South Africa with different football kits in tow.

Since football jerseys have become significant history in a team's profile a change would perhaps start a new note for Team USA known to have a not so competitive lineup in football but nevertheless tries to pull out a few surprises along the way. Failing to reach the finals in the 2006 World Cup, Team USA will have a chance to redeem itself when the 2010 World Cup curtains go up.

While other teams on the World Cup roster have stuck with their traditional football team kits, Team USA will be attempting to put some retro on their uniforms and adopt a change that can probably rub on their team's performance. The home shirt (white) which will have a stripe diagonally in the middle may instill some confidence in them as it was the same style which was donned on the Team USA 1950 World Cup when they edged out England for the title finishing 1-0. So for a team hoping to finish strong in 2010 they might as well start off with their jerseys to get one foot in the door.

The football jerseys which were sponsored by Nike gives out simple touches in design with the white home uniform and the blue away uniform having a red trim on the sleeve. The diagonal stripe which brings some balance to the dominated blue color of the away uniform will keep fans eyes glued to the players while the emblem on the left side gives them a patch of battle cry to carry.

Simplicity but with an echoing fight to the finish is what the new Team USA uniform resembles and with a history backing them up the confidence level will be evident in 2010 World Cup. Team USA trying to add another feather in the cap for having athletes who dominate the world's highest competition is trying to erase the stigma of soccer being a sport solely for the European side of the world. The 2010 World Cup will be the staged set for the Americans to change that stereotypical view on the world of soccer and with Team USA bent on chasing that dream the competition just got even more interesting. Watch out for the boys in the USA football kits!

The Basketball Jersey Phenomenon

Whatever a basketball jersey wields in effect to players and fans alike there is one thing clear, that basketball jerseys have more to offer than what the eyes can see. A basketball kit has been a significant part of a player's world when it comes to the hard-court. It is a player's trademark in which a special history has been etched out while giving out definitions in fashion for teams in competition.

Basketball will be ever grateful to the contributions of a basketball kit that was only seen as the diversifying factor from two competing teams. The rich traditions of the NBA would not have been completed if not for those traditional kits that spell out that special something on a team or on player.

One good example is Lebron James honoring the number 23 as he changed his own number to 6. Number 23 which will be significantly remembered as the number of the greatest basketball player to have ever stepped on the level of the NBA and conquered it mightily with those sweet shooting moves.

Michael Jordan considered as the game's greatest player has been significantly tied to the number 23 and his team the Chicago Bulls. Whatever the reasons of Lebron James for changing numbers it would always boil down to that number signifying Michael Jordan even though Jordan didn't actually buy or apply a patent to it.

It also comes from the fans standpoint and the revenues garnered from the sales of basketball jerseys. Lebron James critics have viewed the move of changing uniforms to marketing strategies plain and simple. Since James feels that his original number 23 would have a negative impact on the revenues because of the Michael Jordan brouhaha he eventually thought of having a number originally depicting an image of a Lebron James and not of a Michael Jordan.

Or maybe because of competition, seeing the Kobe Bryant effect on having a shift of number from his original 8 to the number 24 and having a significant impact because of that change might have stirred Lebron to do the same thing.

Whatever it is we can see how a basketball jersey can have virtually an effect on the whole system of the NBA as a league and not just limited on how a team looks. The evolution of the premier basketball league in the world will keep on turning and with it includes all the components that make it great including basketball jerseys.

FIFA Football Fiasco-A Black Day In World Cup History

As if one vital judgement mistake was not enough in the final 16 of the 2010 Football World Cup match of England v Germany, FIFA came up trumps and dashed Mexico's hopes against Argentina with a horrible off side goal being allowed.

England player Frank Lampard who scored the goal which was denied, calls for goal-line technology. He said that before the beginning of the World Cup they were told about a million different rule changes that in reality hardly affect the game but the big one which affects the game today hasn't been brought in. When Lampard scored the goal which was denied, England were 2-1 down when his shot hit the bar and then dropped down well over the line, as TV replays confirmed. Lampard said that it certainly affected their game which many would agree was not strong to begin with. Nonetheless these types of bad calls by FIFA leave an unsatisfactory feeling of limbo in the air and regardless of how teams were playing beforehand for many of us make the result of a match null and void.

In the case of Mexico, the game was goalless, when Carlos Tevez who was yards offside scored a goal from a play from Lionel Messi. The mistake was easily confirmed when the incident was replayed on the big screen of the stadium just after the goal had been awarded.

Mexico had been the stronger team up to that point in the match. The Mexican coach Javier Aguirre said that the mistake made by FIFA officials had ruined years of hard preparation in a few short seconds.

About the issue of goal-line technology and video replay, just after the handball of Thierry Henry, that qualified France against Ireland for the World Cup, FIFA general secretary, Jerome Valcke said: "Technology should not enter into the game, it was a clear statement made by the majority of the IFAB," added Valcke. "Let's keep the game of football as it is."

Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham boss said FIFA President Sepp Blatter should be embarrassed and made the point: "In the modern world we've got technology, let's use it."

Ironically the 74 year old Seth Blatter has embraced modern technology in other ways, such as signing up to Twitter just before the Football World Cup 2010 began. Then he regularly began tweeting his views on the world game and keeping fans up to date on his day to day movements. Blatter on Twitter shows that he is an old dog well capable of learning new tricks with tweets which have been entertaining enough.

However his tweets have been non-existent since the FIFA football fiasco of Black World Cup Sunday, 27th June 2010. One website, STV Sport, rather kindly surmised that they visualised Seth wandering around desperately looking for a charger for a Nokia N95, as his phone ran out of battery just before the England v Germany match. Naturally this left him unable to visit Twitter-ville!
