Players from both Surrey Storm and Hertfordshire Mavericks have been giving interviews in build up to the Netball Superleague final on the 9th June. The two teams face each other in Hatfield following the 18 league games and playoff finals, and both will be hoping to end the season on a high.
England international Tamsin Greenway, who will be wearing the light blue netball Surrey Storm netball dress, has urged the team to play their best, but admits her team are the underdogs in this tie. She said:
“There is no doubt we are massive underdogs. It’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks to be honest. It’s not unexpected, as our aim was to get through to the final at the start of the season. But the way the squad has come on and the teams we have had to beat to get to the final, it’s been absolutely fantastic and I’m so chuffed for all the girls and the team.”Meanwhile fellow England star Sasha Corbin, who will be wearing the rival purple netball dress of Hertfordshire Mavericks, believes her side are well prepared for the final, but wary of the Storm threat. Speaking to England Netball she said:
“After such a successful season, it will be heart breaking to lose! This is what we have trained hard all season for and this is where we want to be, but at the end of the day the competition is not finished yet and we have still got one last job to do, win! What I do know is that Hertfordshire Mavericks are not leaving the courts without giving it all they’ve got, Surrey Storm bring it on!”The final looks set to be a close encounter and a great conclusion to this years superleague, but more importantly is helping to raise the profile of the game and England’s top league, while inspiring young netball teams nationwide. Best of luck to both sides!
