Despite not having won a Test Series Down Under since 1986/7, Jamie Siddons, Bangladesh’s Australian coach, believes that England will retain the Ashes Down Under this winter.
Shane Warne, the former Australian cricket player, also believes that England has a high chance of retaining the Ashes. With the fact that Australia’s recent home record has not been great after losing to South Africa and a draw with India, this seems to make it more likely.
Sachin Tendulkar, the Indian cricket legend, also believes that England are in with the best chance.
The Ashes Cricket Series 2010/11 looks set to be especially competitive, as although many see England as having the best chance the Aussies want to get their revenge after losing to England last year in the Ashes.
England’s crushing victory at Trent Bridge is evidence that they are on the way to mounting a serious Ashes challenge. Their performance showed a side who are growing in confidence and efficiency. Their seam attach was disciplined and accurate.
