It’s an excellent career; it pays well; and it’s a lot of fun, for both men and women!

The Football Association offers courses at three levels and that means that even if you have little to no prior experience, you can still apply for the course! Entry is open to anyone 16 years and older, so all you need in order to apply is an interest in coaching, and the motivation to improve your skills and understanding.

It’s the UK’s most popular coaching course and if you get on the coaching ladder, you are assured of constantly growing skills and knowledge.

Three Football Coach Training Levels to Choose From

The course is divided into three levels, each consisting of a theoretical and a practical element.

In each level, you will learn all of the subjects relevant to that level, from emergency first aid, to pass and control, to health and safety, and laws of the game.

Maybe you have a few years of experience coaching your local team. In that case, you can skip Level 1 and apply directly for Level 2. Completing this a level 2 course enables you to work as a coach at pretty much every level in football, except for the top level teams.

After each level, there is an assessment and/or an oral interview covering the topics of the course level.

The course is intended to provide you with a proper foundation as a football coach, so a certain level of commitment in studying is needed if any of the three levels is going to be completed successfully.

If you do put in the effort however, a course in football coaching with the Football Association will teach you all the information you need to know to start a successful career as a football coach.
