England Netball’s success at this years Commonwealth games all pivots on a vital game with Australia tomorrow morning. The England side are ranked 3rd and have made a decent start in group stages, but they must now beat the No 1 ranked side to get a chance of gold.
England opened up their tournament with a simple 81-20 victory over Barbados, followed by a slightly tougher 54-36 against South Africa. They then had the setback of losing to the highly ranked New Zealand in a close 41-47, but qualified with wins over Cook Islands and Papua New Guinea.
England currently lie third in the medals tally, with more overall than hosts India, but England Netball will need to pull of one of the biggest upsets against tournament leader Australia if they want to beat their previous best of third.
